RESIDENCE 156
RESIDENCE 156
RESIDENCE 156 - Washington, DC
About this project:
Date Completed: Spring 2010
Project Description:
Residence156 is a single family townhome in Capitol Hill, Washington, D.C. The home, originally The Silver Market, was converted to a residence in 1996. The current owners wanted to open the first floor, removing the separation between the kitchen and dining / living areas. In addition, they wanted to update the cabinetry and appliances from traditional colonial millwork to millwork with a clean, contemporary design.
Bamboo was used for the custom cabinetry with simple detailing and contemporary hardware creating a simple, sustainable atmosphere. New appliances were specified and installed including gourmet range and wine refrigerator. Feeding the owners’ caffeine addiction was also critical, so an Italian espresso machine was installed complete with water and drain lines. All new lighting was installed adding to the clean aesthetic while allowing the owners multiple opportunities for scene customization and illumination drama.
