Project Description:

Located at 6800 Main Street in Houston, Texas, DoubleTree Houston has debuted a 137,631-square-foot remodel led by Washington D.C.-based architecture and design firm //3877 in tandem with Reliance Construction. The hotel property is situated very close to the Houston Medical Center, which is home to eight different academic and research institutions in addition to an impressive healthcare network of 21 hospitals. The project wrapped construction in February 2024, but seamlessly remained open to the public during the renovation to continue accommodating Houston business travelers and patients of the medical center alike.

While working through the design, //3877 recognized that it was important to create a space that felt comfortable and familiar as it is common for guests of the hotel to experience extended stays due to ongoing treatments or pre/post surgery requirements. Throughout the interior, material selections boast a clean, simple theme balanced by interesting design details; towing the line between a calming atmosphere with thoughtfully infused pops of color to foster a sense of energy and liveliness to the space. One of the design must-haves was a cozy recliner in all of the guestrooms to ensure long-term guests are comfortable and have multiple in-bedroom options for relaxing and resting. 

//3877 utilized a color palette that exudes a “quiet energy” consisting of neutral tones mixed with blues and touches of terracotta tones.  For artwork, //3877 took inspiration from the local area; curating a selection that speaks to the diversity and culture that Houston is known for.
